While in Moretown

VIEW THE GORGE: Above my studio and behind the Moretown Town Hall is a bridge with a beautiful view of the Moretown Mad River gorge. It has served as inspiration to many paintings. Last I checked the prayer flags are still flying high above the gorge.

TAKE A WALK: Being right in the village of Moretown affords a sweet little walk along the Mad river and Doctor's Brook. From my studio, walk south on Route 100B toward Moretown Elementary School. Behind the school are several paths including hills with open and sweeping views of the village. During fall foliage, the white steeple churches set against the autumn colors and pines are just stunning.

TAKE A HIKE OR TWO: If you are up for a steeper walk, take the bridge over Moretown gorge behind my studio and you'll see a path to the right and up through the woods. It offers a nice bird's eye view of Moretown village. At the Moretown Elementary school are paths through the woods that meander through pines and maples.

ENJOY A CREEMEE: Across the street at the Moretown General Store you'll find classic and delicious Vermont creemees. What's a creemee?: creemee is soft serve ice cream with a bit higher fat content that gives it that extra rich smooth texture and flavor (including maple made with real Vermont maple syrup). The Moretown General Store is serving creemess until October 30, 2024 after which it'll be closed for the season and we'll have to wait for the return of creemess in spring.

MORETOWN GENERAL STORE: Also at the Moretown General Store you'll find a nice selection of Vermont craft beers including some of my favorites: Focal Banger D-IPA and Heady Topper D-IPA by The Alchemist, and Fiddlehead IPA by Fiddlehead Brewing Company.  They also carry many food items, prepared foods, snacks, gasoline and air pump. They also offer a bathroom, outside seating on the wrap around porch, and a great selection of locally produced Vermont Maple Syrup at fair prices.
